Hermine and Rhode Island.

Good morning friends,

 I bid a happy Tuesday to you all. I write you on this wet and windy day from the free public library in East Greenwich, Rhode Island. This is such a beautiful place to see! You must visit someday.

If you recall my last blog last Friday, I was concerned about Hurricane Hermine affecting the Florida and the rest of the eastern coastline. Ironically, here I am in the aftermath of this stubborn tropical system, here in the New England area. It has caught up to me here in Rhode Island! I arrived on Sunday afternoon, after completing my Connecticut gig in Bristol. Since it was a holiday weekend, I didn’t expect to be able to score a gig until today. That has been the case up to now. I have put a ton of inquires since Sunday night, with nothing to show for it. The Bristol gig came and went so fast, that it gave me a false sense of security heading into the rest of the New England states. There are plenty of jobs posted but none have come my way as I write you. I’m sure the holiday and weather play some role with that situation. So goes the waiting game part of this adventure. That is the hardest part.

By the time I leave this region I will have passed the halfway point of my journey, a good month behind on my projected time frame. I hope to make up so time as I begin to head west, chasing the sunsets all the way to Honolulu. I really have no idea when that will be, I’m hoping before the ball drops in Times Square, or the first snow falls on my tent. I’m not prepared or looking forward to the colder climates I will probably now encounter. The job posting might dry up a bit also, with the end of summer projects now completed for a great many folks in this part of the country, I might have to trade in my weed eater for a snow shovel at this rate. Only time will tell.
